Education changes everything...

Blomidon twists
like a shad against Fundy;
three hundred feet down
the combed shingle is mutant

through the split
the current swallows incoming waves
and foams northeastward into Minas

up there forty miles
I was first drawn into life
by a drunken doctor

I follow a passing gull,
leap across the split
into nests,
each perfect as an inner ear!

Where the Fields End
